About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor and Art Therapist. I have received through continuing study a certificate in Trauma and Body-Based Approach.

I have been working in mental health and social services since 2002. I am also an Army brat and have lived all over, from the coalfields of West Virginia, to the foot of the Bavarian Alps, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Missouri Bootheel before landing back home in North Carolina’s lush Piedmont. Prior to working in mental health, I waited tables, bartended and shoveled yards and yards of mulch. I’ve worked as a reporter and photographer, a publishing editor and a graphic designer. I’ve even DJ’d at a Muzak station.

I’ve made some good choices and some disastrous ones. I am a work in progress. As I travel my own path, I am honored by the opportunity to support people in finding their way toward balance and health. I know that, hey, it ain’t easy. We are all works in progress.

CLINICAL APPROACH

I take a holistic approach to well-being and consider emotional, social, physical, intellectual, occupational and spiritual dimensions of health. I believe that each of these areas is important to nourish to find balance. In the past decade, I have been working to understand and incorporate the mind-body-energetic factors and interventions that contribute to tranquility.

I invite collaboration with medical, integrative and body-focused practitioners. I may work with you to connect with a nutritionist, a massage therapist, a somatic experiencing practitioner, energy worker or to help you find ways to find peace in spirituality or nature, with respect to your individual values and beliefs.
